The appearance of a Hob is as important as the functionality. Here’s some advice to help you decide which one to buy for your Kitchen.
Electric Hobs
Electric Hobs offer versatility with multiple cooking zones, and elements such as a power boost; which allows you to increase the power for quick cooking, ideal for if you’re in a rush. They also offer safety elements like heat indicators and child locks. Most Electric Hobs will have four different sized zones that have 2 to 3 different power levels. It is good to bear in mind that the heat is difficult to control as it takes longer to heat, and longer to cool down in comparison.
Induction Hobs
While they look very similar to Electric Hobs, the way in which they cook is unique. The Appliance creates a magnetic field between the Hob and the underside of the Pans Base; the heat is generated to the Pan directly, not the Hob. This makes them incredibly energy efficient!
They are stylish and safe, with key factors of efficiency for quick heating; but the only downside is you would need compatible cookware. Regular Pans won’t have the magnetic base required to work with the Hob. Steel or Cast-Iron Pans will be suitable for the Induction Hob, but Copper or Aluminium Pans will not.
Gas Hobs
Gas Hobs are very easy to control and are the best for providing direct heat. Offered with a wide range, various Gas Hob models come with a variety of different styles with 4 to 6 Burners or Rings. The main safety concerns about using Gas are due to the naked flame. Most modern-day Gas Hobs are equipped with safety mechanism in place to stop anything from happening. One thing that Gas Hobs cannot provide though, is a sleek and polished look like Electric and Induction Hobs can.
Each with their own benefits and downsides, it’s down to your personal preference for which Hob you would like to include in your Kitchen. They all offer unique attributes to the speed and efficiency of cooking, but also to the aesthetic of the room itself.
